How to Change Units in Onshape : In this post, we will see the process of changing units in Onshape, culturally different regions of the world follow different units during design and modelling and in Traditional CAD packages, we have seen the presence of Application Options where in many changes can be incorporated including Units, Background Options, Save Options, Drawing Preferences, Sketch Plane Selection (Default) etc., these options vary for different CAD software. However, units is one such entity which is a very basic tool necessary for any user. So, let’s see how the changes can be incorporated.
How to Change Units in Onshape
In order to change units to all documents (Part Studios / Assembly) follow the steps below
Step 1: Once you have your Onshape Sign In process completed, click on the User Menu and select Manage Account
Step 2: Now click on preferences and change the units of desired interest and the changes are save for all future part models and assembly models that you create.
Step 3: Now click on Onshape logo to go back to the Document Area and you can start working on the model with your desired units.
Note: Since Onshape is hosted on the cloud, the changes that you incorporate will remain the same even when you login to multiple machines, as compared to desktop / laptop machine, where you need to change units in every machine you start working as long as the unit of your choice is not enabled.
